Faceoff: Which team will have the biggest improvement in 2013?

If we haven’t said it already, Happy New Year!
This year is looking pretty good to us, and we hope it’s the same for all of you.
Perhaps the new year could look pretty good for those who had a beleaguered 2012. So we asked ourselves which sports program could have the biggest improvement this year in this week’s Faceoff.
Kyle said it is the Granite Hills football team after a terrible 2012 in which the Cougars went winless. Matthew Peters said it the Victor Valley football team who cobbled together just two wins and a tie.
What do you think? What teams are poised for a bounce back year? What teams will have a break through year? Let us know in the comments.

I think sbvc is gonna go far this next coming yr!!! The qb came from the desert and I believe there gonna be incredible!! That school gave my son Ethan Hillyer the chance that his high school wouldn’t give him!! A big shout out to that school and a big thank u for the opportunity to see him play! #7 love u big E
although not a local HD program, SBVC definetly could have a big year with the very talented Serrano linebacker under center, and Brandy, did Ethan ever ask to be a QB when he was at Serrano.
Far as the pecking order in the DSL and the MRL, I haven’ t heard or seen anything that makes me think there is going to be any huge changes
Kyle what makes you think Granite will improve? Their JV and Freshman teams were just as bad as Varsity. The coach is way out of his element coaching HS. What makes you think anything will be different in 2013? I see the same sad results.
What are all of you thinking. Oak Hills will make a run again at the title, with the All High Desert QB and Greatest player to put on a Bulldog uniform , Nolan Brammer, back for two more years. Watch out THE FUTURE IS HERE.

What “run” was this? Serrano whooped oak hills 41-16? I can see 2nd or 3rd but not number 1. And the greatest player to be at oak is Marshaun croprich… Saw him live and he was a damn good player!
I do think Oak will be good and have their best shot at beating Serrano, but slow down thinking Brammer is why. He is a very short qb and average. Fletcher is very exciting player and their defense will be good.
Oak is overrated !!!!!!!!! Come on now there is noway they will ever catch up to Serrano in sports.
@Old Dude you are crazy. I am not an Oak Hills fan but last I checked both BB teams in first Baseball is good, Wrestling is good and football is good, so Iwouldnt be so quick to say overrated lol. There are other sports they do well in also. Stop answering questions as a fan open your eyes and see they have a great sports program for the short time they have been open. Go back and tell me Serranos record in sports their first 5 years they were open? See how it compares lol.
Well first Jack if you had clue about anything none of the Oak hills arent home grown , if you know what I mean.A bunch of recruits from all of the other High Schools.Serrano is first Class all the way.If you take all of the kids that dont live in there District you wont have anything but last place teams.Check it out if you want its the Truth.
Old Dude once again you talk out both sides of your mouth. First you say Oak will never catch up, now you say they cheat and recruit lol. Which conversation do you want to have? I showed you athletic success at Oak. So your come back is they recruit lol. Do you know how many out of district kids Oak has compared to other school? Do you really think Deandre Williams moved to Phelan lol. Would you like me to name at least 10 other current Serrano football players who DO NOT live in snowline school district? Every school has kids from other districts so what is your point? People who live in glass houses (you should know the rest). Stop acting like Serrano is so clean and doesnt have players out of district lol.

Don’t you think its a little premature in assuming what team(s) or schools will have the biggest improvement. We know that Serrano and Oak Hills will be competitive. Hesperia and Apple Valley are on the rise but Sultana is an unknown due to not currently having a football coach. Transfers and out of town news enrollees will also play a big part. I think its safe to say that the MRL will dominate the DSL.
I agree too early to tell who will be the team. Old Dude is a homer who wants to bad mouth anything not Serrano. Sadly he doesnt understand that football as a whole needs to get better in the HD in order for teams to succeed in the future. Teams down the hill compete week in and week out. Up here it doesnt happen. Hopefully it will. I think there are teams on the rise. If Victor can stay together they have a nice young backfield. As I said before I am not an Oak Hills fan but appreciate good sports wherever it is. I personally think Brammer is the most over hyped overrated QB up here. Apple has nice returners and might be able to put it together. Hesperia I think returns most of there team, and Serrrano will be good like always.

Jack, errr Mykel do you really think the Serrano staff would do anything illegal and hurt the reputation of there program.
@D’Backdad lol You are right Serrano would never stoop to having players who live out of district lol. I forgot the African American population in Phelan is huge and grows by the day. Also read my prior post and you would know im not from Oak, just respect their program as I do Serranos. Both have good athletics but are not perfect as nothing is perfect. Except in your twisted head lol.

Keep rooting for your team but do yourself a favor and keep other schools out of your mouth because it only proves my point. Jack – How soon you forget. No luck needed finding new qb. Check MRL all league selections this year. Mike Morris LB. He’s a great athlete and was Eppersons backup. If I may also jog your memory 2 yrs ago he was the starting qb for Serranos F/S team and ran circles around Oak Hills. PS – qb for OH that day was Brammer. Could be interesting year again.
Read all my posts, I think Brammer is average!! As for Morris starting at qb congrats. You just got an extra blocker for your super power lol. I would never count Serrano out, but I do believe this year someone will upset them for the title. I think Apple and Oak have enough returners that one of them can do it. Hesperia has a good young qb, and very good wr group. Only team on the slide is Sultana. It will be interesting to see who gets that job.

Is that the team that steals all the ASU logos and plays the same as them. How many league titles? ZERO. Hesperia? If they were 8 man football this last year, most games would have ended after the first quarter because of the score. Serrano? Who cares about QB, you are the Buffalo Bills of the Desert. It is obvious that you are from Oak Hills who has won how many Mrl titles in football? Again I am a sports fan!!! I dont represent any school, but love HS football. All I stated was Apple and Oak should be able to close the gap with some of the talent on their teams. Serrano is and will be the favorite, but will also have a rookie QB. Hesperia should also be better, but we will have to see about them. Sultana sadly will probably be worse than last years team. As far as logo stealing, have you looked at Fresno St and Oaks logo? hmmm looks the same to me hahaha
